Doris Schumacher McMorrow began her law career as a corporate attorney, handling complex financial litigation and contract negotiations. Before returning to the practice of law 14 years ago and joining Davis Friedman seven years ago, McMorrow owned her own business, a successful ballet school, where she was also the head instructor. Regularly interacting with, teaching and observing children (and their parents) instilled in her an instinct for relating to clients and customers, as well as a broad understanding of family dynamics. She brings these attributes into her repertoire of skills, duties, and insight as a family law attorney.

McMorrow’s experience provides her with empathy for her clients, together with an anchored, pragmatic outlook for each case. Her work at Davis Friedman, including complicated financial matters and difficult child custody cases, has embodied the professionalism for which the firm is so widely commended. "I came to Davis Friedman because they had the reputation of being attorneys with integrity," she says, "attorneys who did not try to take advantage of clients or other lawyers, and who tried to get the best settlement for their clients without unnecessary litigation and expense. That is who I am, and this is the place where I wanted to work."

Divorce law requires the ability to connect with clients through times of great emotional and financial upheaval. As a lawyer practicing matrimonial law, I believe it is my job to help them through painful, difficult situations, to guide them through the legal process, and obtain the best results for them and their children.

I help my clients visualize an end result and help them see the opportunities to get there.
