Having served as the head of almost every family law organization in the city and state (chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Matrimonial Law Committee, ISBA Family Law Section Council and the Illinois Trial Lawyer’s Family Law Committee and President of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers) and as a DePaul adjunct law professor, board member of various legal associations, and teacher of matrimonial law throughout the country, Errol Zavett is a vital presence among the Davis Friedman team. He's as broadly esteemed for his subtle wit in writing legal texts as for his tenacity in the courtroom. Taking an unwaveringly calm, rational, and systematic approach to every case, Zavett is acutely sensitive to the needs and situations of each client, particularly the emotional upheaval that's inherent in any divorce. "We work in the process of helping people at the worst time of their lives," he says. "Most clients are frightened, not knowing if they're going to get by or be starved or humiliated. While there are lawyers In this practice who take advantage of that vulnerability, we work to be as helpful as possible." Having converged with Davis Friedman from his own practice, Zavett's admiration for his colleagues and the firm's collaborative structure and functionality is clearly evident. "The partners at Davis Friedman received their training from so many different directions that none of us have come up the ranks the same way," he says. "This diversity of backgrounds and talents, as well as resources and sensibility, strengthens this firm, as we all bring something different to the table."
