Partner

Hailing from a family of lawyers (including Davis Friedman founding partner James Friedman, now retired), Joshua Friedman practiced labor and employment law with the firm of Bell, Boyd & Lloyd before joining Davis Friedman nearly fourteen years ago.  Since that time, he has practiced exclusively in the area of Illinois family law primarily in Cook, Lake, and DuPage counties.  His specific expertise includes handling complex financial cases, and negotiating and drafting pre-marital, post-nuptial and marital settlement agreements.  He is also proficient at handling child custody, visitation and support matters.

In focusing on his clients' goals, Friedman will devise a variety of approaches based on his real-world experience, while maintaining a clear-headed perspective and disposition through often difficult and stressful legal processes. "Part of my job," he says, "is to separate myself from the human emotions and keep an objective view for my clients, advising them of clear options and strategies through this highly emotional time."

Friedman has lectured and trained other lawyers on a variety of family law topics which has helped him gain the respect of the judges as well as lawyers.  This, he believes, can only help his clients.

We don't create controversy just to create fees.

We can't have clients lie to us, and we're not going to help a client lie thru a case just to help his or her cause.
That's what separates this area of law from so many others: the personal emotional aspect of it. We thoroughly understand and respect that. It's a part of our service.
