Partner
With more than four decades of legal experience, including several areas of the law, Larry Kane is one of the extremely well-versed attorneys at Davis Friedman (where he also serves as managing partner). His primary concentration is his work with clients, guided by his belief that a reasonable outcome should be possible through the least traumatic measures possible. "I know the law, and I have a very good idea of what the result will be if a case goes before a judge," Kane says. "I would like to resolve a case within the parameters of what a judge might do, serving my client as honestly, intelligently and capably as possible." If proceedings grow contentious, Kane, like every Davis Friedman attorney, is prepared to champion his client's interests. "If the other party wants to be extremely aggressive, we can respond to that very well," he says. "I never want to make the case more contentious, but if it is escalated, we know how to deal with that quite effectively." Along with his work for Davis Friedman, Kane has served or chaired committees of various legal associations, been President of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, has lectured and written extensively and has authored family law legislation, including substantial revisions to sections of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act. By appointment of the Illinois Supreme Court, he serves as a hearing officer of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
